A solvent and oil interceptor is designed to contain and slow the flow of trade waste to allow any solvents and/or oils to float and separate from the cleaner water which, drawn from near the bottom of the interceptor, flows out to sewer.
Periodically, the collected solvents and oils will need to be drained from the solvent and oil interceptor and disposed of as directed by local authorities.
What size interceptor will my business need?
In general, the capacity needs to be sufficient to retain the contaminated waste water for at least one hour before being discharged to sewer.
The appropriate size, or capacity, interceptor will be nominated by your local water authority under your trade waste agreement. You will need to contact your local water authority so they can determine the capacity applicable to your application. To find your local water authority, click here.
Capacity: 100 litres ā 2,000 litres
- Above ground: 100 – 2,000 litres (standard capacity tank is 100 litres)
- Below ground: 600 – 2,000 litres
- Larger capacity interceptors are available by special order
- Where there are space limitations, an equivalent capacity interceptor can be custom made to fit the available space
Above Ground Solvent and Oil Interceptor
Below Ground Solvent and Oil Interceptor
- A below ground solvent and oil interceptor is fabricated from 6mm polyethylene. Ā These tanks must be surrounded with 100mm thick (minimum) concrete walls and base.
- Fitted with 100mm inlet, outlet and vent plain pipe fittings
- Pipe fittings are fully welded for superior seals
- Full height keying strips provide better binding of the plastic to the poured concrete, stiffening of the interceptor and include holes to feed the Y12 reinforcing bars through to provide better binding of the steel reinforcement in the poured concrete
- External 50mm flat rim flange around the top of the interceptor provides a better binding surface between the interceptor and poured concrete and a level area for the access cover/s
- Access covers (sold separately), capable of being removed by one man, should be fitted on top for easy access for tank cleaning
-
Access covers ( sold separately) are available in various types (concrete in-fill, solid top or tiling edge), numerous sizes and several weight loadings (pedestrian, car or truck)
