What areĀ Trade Waste Tanks?
Trade waste tanks are used to slow the discharge of trade waste to the sewer to allow the contaminants (grease, fats, solids, chemicals, etc.) to be contained and cleaner/cooler water to be discharged to sewer. Ā Trade waste is any waste water used during business activities that will be discharged into the sewer system. Trade waste is most often created in, but not limited to, food preparation, automotive, laboratory, industrial or manufacturing businesses. Trade waste often has other substances in it like grease and fats, solids or chemicals.
To discharge trade waste, you need to have a trade waste agreement with your local water authority. The trade waste needs to pass through a trade waste tank to collect contaminants to prevent these contaminants from being discharged into the sewer system where they can cause blockages, burst pipes and overflows in the system. Without a trade waste tank, your trade waste can also block the pipes on your own property disrupting your business with blockages and smelly overflows.
Viking Plastics fabricates an extensive range of trade waste tanks suitable for most types of trade waste.
Periodically, as the contaminants accumulate in the tank, your trade waste tank will need to be pumped out and cleaned by a licensed trade waste collection contractor.
You will need a trade waste agreement with your local authority and formal approval from that authority before being allowed to discharge trade waste to sewer.
